Introduction

Hello everyone,

My name is Emmanuelle Chiocca and I am a PhD student in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum at the University of Oklahoma. I am originally from France but have been living in the US for about four years now.

After earning a BA in history and an MA in Contemporary History with a focus on Native American History, as well as a BA in English, I finally discovered a passion for education, and more specifically its international and intercultural aspects.

I am interested in the development of intercultural (communicative) competence in general, but have been looking at the ICC development of Reserve Officer Training Corps Cadets (US Military students) learning critical languages (primarily Arabic and Chinese) in college before studying abroad or being deployed.

Also among my interests is intercultural curriculum development for study abroad programs in higher education, and thus I currently find myself working on both fields, striving to expand my understanding of ICC development in several different but interrelated aspects.

I am very excited to be a part of this group, and I look forward to getting to know you all better and hopefully having the opportunity to meet you in person someday soon.

Sincerely,

Emmanuelle Chiocca
